PC Agent Monitoring Server - Dynamic DNS

Dynamic DNS or DDNS (dynamic Domain-Name-System) is used, to update domain name entrys. The update takes place about a script which provided by the respective DDNS provider and executed with predefined arguments.

This tool offers the possibility for the automation of this process (so that this must not be processed manually) and is hence an important supplement, if the records of the PC Agents monitoring process should be sent over the internet to the server.

Most DDNS providers are supported. e.g.:

(1) Add
Adds a new entry. Afterwards the settings can be changed on the right. Before a new entry can be added, an account must exist by one of the aforementioned ones or another provider. To edit a entry, click on the entry in the list.

(2) Delete
Deletes a entry.

(3) Update
Execute the update.

(4) Automatic update
Execute the update automatically by the program start or/and after a predefined interval (e.g.: Every: 90 minutes).

(5) Settings

• Entry
  Enter your dynamic DNS host name or an unequivocal name for this entry. This entry is processed with every update if the hook is set by Host name.
   
• Method
  The method to call the Script-URL. In most cases the method GET is used.
   

• Protocol
  For a secure (crypted) connection the protocol HTTPs must be used. By the use of the protocol HTTP the arguments to be handed over are not encrypted. Pay attention to the fact that your provider supports HTTPs. Otherwise you must use HTTP.
   

• Script-URL
  The URL to the script of the provider. Enter this URL without addition http:// or https://. This addition is already defined with the protocol. z.B.: www.example.com/cgi-bin/update.cgi
   
• Authentication
  Some providers require an authentication. If not, then leave these fields empty.
   

• Arguments
  The arguments which are sent to the Script-URL. This arguments are given by your provider and contains data like user name, keyword or host name. Every argument has a name and a value. Add an argument and enter the name of the argument and his value. z.B.: Name: username, Value: yourusername or Name: password, Value: yourpassword
   

• Save/Reset
  To apply new settings click on Save. Otherwise the last changes are discarded by click on Reset.
